So. As you may or may not know, I am in the middle of a master bedroom makeover
This is our room with some new bedding, new pillows, and some paint swatch art. This room was originally a guest room, and although we loved the color for guests, its so bright and fun and inviting. My mum says it reminds her of sunshine. But it didn't feel right to us being our bedroom color.
This is where we keep a lot of our clothes. Mostly comfy pjs and big bulky sweatshirts.
I love this painting. The colors are beautiful, but it really matches with the wall color like a little TOO much. Its hard to tell from the picture, but it looks really matchy- matchy.
I picked out a grey color that I am super happy with. Its the perfect balance of totally grey but not too dark, sophisticated and cozy, dramatic but livable.
At first I thought the color looked a little purple, and I was getting nervous, but I think it was when I was looking at the green right beside the grey it looked purplish, but once I got a whole coat on I knew it was perfect.
Much better right?
Once every thing dried we put every thing back in place.
I am so loving this color in this room. It just pops off the white bedding, furniture and molding.
And its funny because I feel like the grey brings out all these moody colors in the painting that I just didn't see before. I think this might be one of those very rare pieces of art that works in any room with any colors.
I think the greys all work really well together. I knew for sure the grey on both of the pillows were much too dark for the walls, but it was a nice jumping off place.
I am liking the paint swatch art a lot better now. I plan to switch it up, and put more stuff on the wall. But I just rehung them until I know more of what I am going to do.
And the lighter version.
So next up...
1. New window treatments. I'm thinking white wood blinds like the rest of the house. I love these blinds because they are great for privacy, for letting in only a little light, and they look nice with all the white molding.
2. Headboard- I have a couple of different options, but I think its going to be bold, not your average headboard.
3. More "art" on the wall, maybe a gallery wall, it'll all depend on what the headboard is like.
4. And I think this little blue side table, although very cute wont live here anymore
5. accessorize.
So...do you like it? Because I am just in love with it. And the hubs agrees, it feels more like a master bedroom now.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous!! I LOVE that pillow!!
ReplyDeleteMuch better now! I'm a huge fan of grey after all. I've painted my bedroom dark grey too.
ReplyDeleteYEP.. This colour is perfect. I think is is cozy, but not overwhelming. Good choice!
ReplyDeleteI really like the painting and how it looks now against the wall color. Might I suggest that if you put the print in a different frame, ie a distressed white or distressed white over dark grey it might look even better? I find the brass distracting and it doesn't match [and thus stands out] the other metals in the room.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey wall color.... makes me think of an Andrew Wyeth painting, the one with the dog on the bed.

Love the gray! I just painted our gameroom and laundry room colonnade gray from Sherwin Williams. It's gorgeous. Your painting looks amazing against the new wall color too!
ReplyDeleteYour master bedroom looks great! I need to get on with completing ours. Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do! :) Visiting from 'The Picket Fence' xo Kirsty
ReplyDeleteVery sophisticated color, love it! What color is it? Please share :)
ReplyDeleteI love your new color! And I love it that it is different than the stripes in your pillows - that helps add texture and contrast that is so important in a monochromatic or neutral room! I really like your candles in the birdcage, too. :)
